What is a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check?

A DBS check is the same as a CRB check (see information below, homepage and other pages on this website).

On December 1st 2012 the CRB changed its name to the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) and all disclosure certificates issued from that date are DBS disclosures.

The CRB named Application Forms are now void and only DBS named forms will be acceptable.

Cloisters (UK) Ltd. DBS Enhanced Disclosures are only £58 (fully inclusive! No VAT or Registration fee). We offer external validation checks.

Cloisters (UK) Ltd has been processing Criminal Records disclosures since its 2002 inception. A DBS check is compulsory for most people coming into contact with children or the vulnerable. Our processing is fast, friendly & competitively priced. We offer help to fill in application forms and give free information & advice. We process single & multiple disclosure applications within 2 days. Applicants are checked by accessing the Children and Vulnerable barred lists and Local/National/International Police records.

A Standard check provides the employer and the applicant with the applicants full criminal record. However because it does not include a check of official warnings issued from the local police force, this level of check is NOT SUFFICIENT for those working where there are children or vulnerable adults.

An Enhanced check provides an applicant’s full criminal record as well as information held by the local police that is relevant to the post. It will also provide a check of the Children’s &/or Vulnerable Adult’s banned lists.

The result of a check is issued on a certificate called a disclosure which is issued to the applicant
